During the appointment, we examine your child’s teeth and gums to ensure everything is developing properly. If needed, X-rays may be taken to check areas that aren’t visible and monitor future tooth development.
A light cleaning and fluoride treatment may be included to help protect against cavities. We also provide simple guidance on brushing, flossing, and daily habits to support your child’s oral health at home.
Most importantly, we strive to prioritize your child’s overall experience at the dentist, by making them feel safe and in a positive environment above all else. With this we may take more time and multiple visits in order to slowly gain your child’s trust and make sure they are comfortable with us taking a look at their teeth. We recommend children’s first dental visits to take place around 2-2.5 years old to begin building positive interactions at the dental visits and to assess their teeth from an early age to prevent decay. Your child should also have all their baby teeth present between 2-3 years old!
Cavities are one of the most common dental concerns in children, but they are also highly preventable. Baby teeth are very important, they hold the space for our adult teeth, help with chewing, speech development and appearance. It is imperative we help our kids to succeed in maintaining a healthy diet and oral hygiene routines!
Frequent sugar exposure increases the risk of tooth decay, such as carbonated drinks, desserts, fruit juices and avoid sticky foods.
Consistent oral hygiene helps remove plaque and prevent buildup, check with your dentist how much toothpaste you should be using!
Nutritious foods such as milk, cheese, vegetables and nuts support both oral and overall health.
Routine care allows us to catch and prevent issues early. We recommend coming every 6 months.
Children’s dentistry is about more than just treating teeth — it’s about setting the foundation for lifelong oral health. At Lolo Dental, we focus on prevention, education, and creating positive experiences that help children feel at ease.
We monitor how your child’s teeth are growing, check for early signs of decay, and recommend treatments like fluoride or sealants when appropriate. These preventive steps help reduce the risk of cavities and protect developing teeth.
We also work closely with parents, offering guidance on brushing, flossing, diet, and habits that impact oral health. Small daily routines make a big difference in keeping your child’s smile healthy.
By building strong habits early, we help set your child up for long-term dental health and confidence.
